Bathroom light grey and white wire?

There was a light in the bathroom that had a grey and white wire connecting to it. I removed the light and put the two wires together, thinking they would just complete a circuit. I turned the switch on and my hallway light went out. So I turned the switch off, disconnected the wires and capped them. I went to the circuit box and turned off everything then back on. Now my hallway light still doesn’t turn on. Any advice on what to do?
