Light switch & outlets no longer work in my bathroom, any ideas why?

My children’s bathroom light switch stopped working unexpectedly the other day. I also came to find out that the outlets don’t work in there either. At first, I thought it was just a bad bulb, but I came to find out that wasen’t the problem. Any ideas what may have happened, how to fix and whether or not you think it is a fire hazard….which I am paranoid about.
it’s not the kind of plate where there is a reset button. I am going to call an electriction later today, I just wondered if anyone had any ideas…
